	The modern concept of a Living Room, or Lounge as it is known in the United Kingdom, evolved from the 19th century Parlor. The parlor was used to lay out the recently deceased before their funeral. As we thankfully changed, designers and architects increasingly used the term "Living Room" to strip the parlor of its previous associations with mourning and burial. The Living Room continued to evolve and is now frequently reserved for more formal and quiet entertaining of guests, while a separate area is now used for family recreation and relaxation.
