During the Nouveau period Europeans, who had loved birds and their feathers enough to drive them to the point of extinction, began instead to decorate their clothing and homes with images. These enameled French birds are one example of this movement. The birds are intended simply to lie decoratively on a desktop, tabletop or m’lady’s dressing table.

Adorned with lovely enamel work in the brilliant colors of a pair of mates, they are in their original box.

In very good condition except for minor damage to the enamel on the tail of the female, as shown in the images.
