Victorians were crazy to bring the outside indoors.  Their homes were filled with pots and jardinieres of newly-exotic plants, such as orchids and ferns.

This wooden Jardiniere is banded with copper and decorated with brass lion’s heads.

The bottom displays the mark for the British firm Champion & Co., makers of “tubs for shrubs”.
